The Game Is Rigged: As a general rule, wealth buys political influence. If a country is...

fralcon:

As a general rule, wealth buys political influence. If a country is having fiscal problems, the blame likely lies with the corporations and individuals who benefited the most from its policies. Don’t blame the public worker who has the unmitigated gall to be in the middle class. Look at the businesses and individuals connected to government officials.

This is why austerity measures are disgusting. Minimum wage workers and people on welfare aren’t responsible for a country’s financial problems. As long as rich people exist in a nation, the poor shouldn’t have to pay a dime in the name of austerity. Why is it that so many people have no problem with cutting a public workers’ pay, but hate the idea of taking money from a millionaire?

It is because profit is seen as the only incentive to do anything.  Take that away and we all go back to the dark ages according to Milton Friedman. o.O
